On December 10th 2017, Mr. Mongkol Pruekwatana, Director General of Department of Industrial Works announced to the press that Department of Industrial Works is in the process of making a regulation to support PRTR (Pollutant Release and Transfer Register) system that requires designated group of industry to provide information about wastewater, air emission and waste release and transfer. Pollution release and transfer information will be sent to Pollution Control Department for development of database. The date will be open to the public.

Current pilot project of Thailand Pollutant Release and Transfer Register System designates 9 groups of factory namely;

  1. Chemical and Petrochemical
  2. Automobile and Automobile Parts
  3. Oil Refinery, Natural Gas Separation and Petroleum Product
  4. Primary Metal Industry and Metal Product
  5. Electrical Appliance Manufacturing
  6. Plastic Product Manufacturing
  7. Rubber and Rubber Product Manufacturing
  8. Power Plant and Stream Generation
  9. Waste Management

The pilot PRTR project was started in Rayong province since 2013. More than 200 factories has submitted PRTR report every year. Pilot project in Sumutprakarn Province also began in 2016. In 2018, Chonburi Province and Chachoengsao province will be included since the policy is to cover all provinces within Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Project with a goal of covering all province in future.
